Apartments in Rome - The Colosseum Guide
The Colosseum area is located in what the Romans call Rione dei Monti ("district of the hills"), bordered by 3 of the 7 hills on which Rome was founded: the Esquiline, Viminal, and Quirinal. The area is famous for its historial archeological structures: the Roman and Imperial Forums, the Trajan market, Domus Aurea the arch of Constantin and The Colosseum.
Rione dei Monti is one of the most ancient districts of Rome with a homely atmosphere, narrow cobblestoned streets and old trattorias. In Monti you can still get a taste of life in Rome before the 'modern times'. In many ways it's very much like Trastevere with its ancient streets and culture, although less commercialised and somewhat more authentic.
